    Hell Let Loose

This thread was originally titled Post Scriptum and Hell Let Loose. Since Post Scriptum now has it's own discussion forum, this content has been moved from the World at War Public Forum to the other forum. The Hell Let Loose parts of that thread now have their own thread in the World at War Public Forum. -- Melvin

For people who aren't aware of these upcoming games, please take a look at the following:

Re: Post Scriptum and Hell Let Loose

So i got into the Alpha for Hell Let Loose.. and I must say the game is looking good. The fire fights and team work are fantastic! It's got quite a long way to go, but so far so good. I am super excited for what this game will bring. They also said there will be mod support, so doing custom loadouts in our point based campaigns might be something we can do.

I am going to end up buying both, but i still think HLL is going to be a go to when it releases. More fronts to come than just normandy for them, and modding capability.

Well I am going to get both.

Re: Post Scriptum and Hell Let Loose

Will go with the "flow" here, and get both as well

With Squad the spin-off BF2 Project Reality mod as the base for Post Scriptum (from what I understand) I believe it might be rather playable from get go.
(old news for most, but maybe new for some)

    Also,
I do see some familiar names in the thread so just a discrete - Hi to you.

    Re: Hell Let Loose

The momentum for PS seems insurmountable here. Thing is HLL may be one of those games that never finishes to a point that they allow it to be played by the general public of A Holes like yall LOL. Yeah from what I've seen HLL looks better, I mentioned one I started following recently but then found out it was almost 11 years old and will never finish so who knows. Keep your minds open.

Having 2 to compete is a good thing and I think if they are both playable you should play them both. Keep them both honest. Those who know me know I don't trust the PR guys. They was just too hard headed about certain things IMO. Especially the fun parts, Ok I understand why the Taliban or AQ couldn't really operate a modern US tank very well but not allowing them to drive a damn truck or use an American rifle that just undermines the R in the name, reality, which PR was supposed to about. I still blew up a bunch crap but I'd a blown up a bunch more with more realistic freedom. Then all of sudden I couldn't use the incendiary grenades from US/Brit packs to destroy their stuff. Not good.

I likely will never get to play either of them so take my advice with a shaker of salt.

    Here's a link reviewing HLL:

Listen to his conclusions about the game.

Also, check out the HLL gifs and vids on Steam for more information:

I'm hoping that HLL will have mod tools available upon its formal release.

    Re: Hell Let Loose

For a second I thought they'd brought back bf 42's killing tanks with grenades thing but then I went back and saw a guy fire and panzer faust at it.

The lack of combat seems to be the players looking at stuff and trying things they haven't tried out yet. He seems to be worried its the game. Coordination was probably lacking.

The ground looks good, even though for some reason his video wasn't great. I always look at the ground in a game to judge the graphics. This is the best I've seen the ground look from what I could tell from a youtube video. Youtube seems to be turning into a room full of Richards from everything I hear content creators say. Once The Big G bought it I suppose that was inevitable and basically they know they have most of the eyes in the world so they don't care. I can't find the volume of conspiracy videos I need anywhere else so I will stick with them.

If I have the computer to run it I will buy HLL. If it doesn't work out, that will likely be very last WWII game I ever buy. I think the genre is just about done in multiplayer aside from EA taking a crap now and again in and on the WWII era. I assume EA will buy this studio and ruin it, if this game turns out to be good.

I didn't see any rubber banding of the vehicles but I only saw 2. The voip, if they add a mute button for each player I will be happy. Its the best thing about ARMA as far as voip goes.

    Re: Hell Let Loose

HLL had their closed beta as many likely know, but..

here's a vid of one part of it where the guy posting mentions FH. Also you can check out that Neighborkid is in the squad the guy joins for a bit at the 1:40 mark.

So, Neighbor likely has an opinion and could let us know about it, if he shows here again.

    Re: Hell Let Loose

HLL has a beta test starting on April 5, 2019 with 2 more betas to follow and an early access release date of June 6, 2019.

They are now selling pre-order access packs with keys, described here:

https://steamcommunity.com/games/686...82645663180468 (the order links on Steam don't seem to work)

you can use the order links here: https://pre-order.hellletloose.com/

A "Soldier Pack" gives the purchaser a game code, a key for the 3 beta tests, an early access key, two bonus cosmetic helmets and 2 extra beta keys for two others to try the 3 betas. Cost $29.99

A "Unit Pack" has 6 game codes, 6 access keys and beta keys with the helmets for each game code. Cost $161.95 (10% discount)

I don't see whether there are refunds or not.

The game is not finalized I'm sure.

The bonus keys in the Soldier Pack look like a good idea to allow a number of people to try it first, if I am understanding it correctly.

I'm going to buy a Soldier Pack.

    Re: Hell Let Loose

I anticipate I will get 2 extra keys for the 3 beta test sessions of Hell Let Loose.

The first test starts April 5, 2019, this Friday.

If you are interested in getting one of beta test keys from me and seeing what happens (no guarantees) please post here.

You should make sure your rig will be able to play it.

I will send a key for the beta tests to the first 2 people to post "I'll take one" in this thread.

If you get a key and it works, you will get to try out Hell Let Loose in the beta test sessions starting April 5.

    Re: Hell Let Loose

HLL is going to make an effort to support clans or as they refer to them, "divisions" to, as they put it:

When looking at Divisions in Hell Let Loose, we want to achieve the following:
Give Clans locations to exist, recruit, organise scrims and socialise in Hell Let Loose.
Assist in the organisation of scrims and competition matches.
Support and promote Division scrims and tournaments via the Hell Let Loose social channels.
Hold semi-regular meetings with Division leaders to gather feedback, discuss the Division environment and collate their thoughts on the state of the game.
Showcase Divisions to highlight their activities, expose them to potential new members and share their experiences.
Work alongside Divisions to help ensure we provide a quality private server experience. (When they launch)

Thumbs up Re: Hell Let Loose

Well, it's too bad that my offer for a free key for the HLL test beta sessions wasn't taken up. IT'S STILL AVAILABLE.

Maybe nobody reads posts anymore except for Bailing.

But anyway, I will note some first impressions after some hours of play.

HLL is still a work in progress with a couple of tanks as the only transport and no player flyable planes.

    It is or has:

    • Much more intuitively playable than PS. Kind of like FH2 and better that way than PS. More "player friendly". I suck at infantry, but still I liked it.
    • It has glitches, but glitches aside it runs very well. Plus, spawn in screens, team choice, kit selection, squad joining, squad leaving, spawn point choices, compass on map, weapon selection, bandaging, are all very good.
    • It's simple in ways that are good.
    • The game doesn't give many instructions. I guess the designers decided players will figure it out. Player controls are basically like PS or Squad and many other games.
    • The matches are usually 1 1/2 or 2 or more hours. A lot of grind.
    • There was room for strats. Often, at least two flags could be in play.
    • For me anyway there was a whole lot of dying. Still less frustrating than PS.
    • It has gore. The blown up bodies are effects, not placed objects. Where that is shown in the pix was part of a heavy, intense battle over a set of trenches and is the effect of grenades or artillery.
    • Artillery is a huge killer. Very usable apparently. It comes in a lot. I did not run an artillery gun but each side has some fixed ones that the Commander places marks for and the barrages usually come walking in on a position and blow the crap out of most everyone under it.
    • The terrain and features on the maps are detailed and gorgeous to look at. Screens I took below show how it looks. YouTube vids are often at too low a resolution to give a correct rendition.
    • Games could have 100 players without too much trouble. I was often in games with 96-100 players. I think some people did have lag, but I don't think I ever did.

Armor is present but underdeveloped. Lots of issues. Mainly bouncing off terrain features and somersaulting into the air. Crazy. I don't like some of the multi person crew features either, but some things are better than PS. Some worse (like no unbuttoned viewing, gear shifting required and a terrible hull mg).

Again, let me know if you want a free beta test key number. THE KEYS I HAVE ARE FREE!! Post here if you want one. First two to post will get one. There are still 2 test sessions to go. It's like a free game test.
    Here's some pix:

Sure looks good. Wish they had more vehicles. Wonder why that is so hard to implement for these games.

Bunch of people playing it over at cmp discord if you want a community to play with.

Send me a key, I figured there would many more takers than you had keys. I will see if this old thing will play it. Those are the two reasons I didn't take one before.

It can be played at other times right? Not just on beta weekends? I just got it installed, computer has a problem, not with the game, it just has a problem so it took me awhile so now I gotta go to work. I can play it tomorrow right?

No, I don't think so. This is just a beta test key.

The full game will be released June 6, 2019 (75th anniversary of D-Day) but must be purchased to play at that date. Until then, it's only the beta test weekends.

But there are two more beta test weekends, dates tba.

Ok, I will try to pay attention to when they have the next one, again thanks for the key.

I had to agree that I have a floppy drive in order to get this thing to start up again after the crash. I do not have a floppy drive. It was like I was being held hostage. "DO YOU AGREE YOU HAVE A FLOPPY DRIVE?" It wasn't worded like that and the first time so I said no to being somehow booted from a floppy I do not have but the second time I just went along with it and it worked. There is now a floppy listed along with the other drives.

Here is thing thing, I cannot read the screen to do the fixes for the error. The boot stuff since I got this 1080 monitor is pretty damn much unreadable. I saw the word floppy and some of that stuff that went along with it. I have no idea how to fix it to where I can read the stuff before the computer goes into windows.

    Here,

This is a pretty good example of what HLL was like on the most recent beta test, defects, carnage and all:

Oh God, I love it, the MG at the start, it jumps around, like its supposed to I guess, its not easy to but you can if you do it right, slaughter. I have my doubts about my computer doing that, that looks great which is not what this thing does on newer games.

also, THE FORUM IS BACK! I figured it had been turned off and I hadn't heard about it.
