    New Battle Idea

    Here is what I was thinking. Instead of the current system of how each CinC is told what is available for points and such for the battle I was thinking we took a more interesting approach for the next campaign:

    Each side is only told what they are allotted as far as points for tanks, kits, equipment etc. They are not told about the other side, still they must choose their loadout, and still must submit it by a certain time, but the map is kept blank on the server until H-hour. I think that would add something to this campaign, a bit more excitement, a in-game "fear" (i guess) of what the enemy could possibly be bringing.

    I think that would be a bit different and would be fun.

    Problem with that is it makes it harder and nearly impossible to find all bugs in the map before battle day.
    Having a fully equipped battle map with both sides' loadouts and placements before battle day allows the divisions to practice on the map and report problems.
    Problems that otherwise have to be fixed in a rush at battle time.

    Posting the enemy's loadout ahead of time gives the divisions the opportunity to adjust their strats and think up ways to counter the enemy.
    The loadouts itself is picked before the enemy's loadout is revealed. So, instead of having the excitment and fear on Saturday you have it on Tuesday after both loadouts have been submitted and are then posted up.

    How about some sort of handicap system? The winning team from the week before gets a reduction in the points they would have been allocated for the coming week. You could call it a logistical handicap due to overstretched supply lines.

    This may avoid one sided campaigns in the future.

    Generally, few campaigns end up like this. But that is a good idea none the less.

    Also, it was a decision by the divstaffs this or last campaign to have the loadouts visible immediately. I guess it could be brought up at the start of next campaign but it'll most likely stay this way, makes things easier as Avro said.

    The only thing I miss anymore is Russian tanks. And Russian Country. Except that time it was T-34s vs a Tiger on that bridge out of main at the end of the runway.

    Even though it is a great idea, BF2's mapping quirks make it nearly impossible, as Avro pointed out, to make it (as) bug free (as humanly possible) by battle day (unless a lot as changed since last I mapped).

    Pretty much. The sooner everything is on the sooner all the bugs can be found. Usually one little thing will get screwed up on every map and it can throw everything in whack. I'm pretty sure we all remember the "Nobody drop the tailgate on the Zis5 truck" scenario from back in the day.
