I realised I still have a great number of old WaW videos saved and it's about time they were made public.
Many of you weren't here in the early days with BF1942 and FH1 but these movies should still be quite enjoyable.

It's quite amazing how long the tournament has been going and how the community has kept changing over the years.
We look back on quite a diverse history since WaW began at the end of 2002.

We've been based on 3 different games: BF1942 vanilla, Forgotten Hope 1, Forgotten Hope 2
Pretty interesting looking back at the graphics and gameplay of those old games we've almost forgotten.

We begin with 2 videos from WaW Campaign 1, yes the very first.
As we go along I'll post videos from the later campaigns, following the WaW timeline.

I have a few videos from, I think, campaign 9. They were made by Poopiepants, one of them is the russian airplane sled race. Another one is vehicle launching with the deployable MGs. I'd have to see what else I've got if anything.

And the promo vid KiMo made (the best ever) is on youtube still, I can link you there if need be too.

I still have a video laying around somewhere ... Someone from a very early WaW had recorded this video of the "shreckwerfer", where the axis all spawned with panzershrecks at roundstart on omaha, and fired at once. Not sure what WaW that would have been, but I will try to get the video up some time soon.

I remember statics launching vehicles in fh1. First time it ever happened to me was on that winter map with the city in the middle and 2 flags on the hills to the nw/se with main bases at nw/se

Ah, and there's still a few decent ones around from 13. Adder might still have the vid from the We Were Soldiers battle where he saw Kimo stealing and hiding the Allied spawnable and the reaction of me plowing a full truck into a tree after the usual dive off of the cliff.

You can hear his voice and in the beginning and you hear Eisenhower giving the orders. I think it was Widowmaker who's talking in the end in taking of the practice picture.

Nice stuff Rocketeer! I remember that battle very well, it was my first battle that I played for the whole 12 hours Windhund kicked *** in that battle.

I have a lot more videos on my other hard drive, but for some reason I can't get it to work right now.

Campaign 5



Next ist a recording of an important TS meeting in WaW 5. WaW 5 was a fully pay-to-play campaign and we had started out with 2 divisions per side playing 2 battles per week (Wednesday & Saturday). Attendance was poor across the board so it was decided to merge the divisions. In the recording the idea of 3 battles per week is mentioned, really crazy stuff by today's standards. You had to pay a penalty if you wanted troops from the other division to reinforce your division. The use of Forgotten Hope for WaW 6 is also briefly discussed.
The following TS meeting between the admins, the divisional staffs and officers is where the merger was decided. An interesting insight into the past, though the audio quality is not too great.

This next video is particularly interesting. It shows the very first time an offical World at War event took place using Forgotten Hope. The beginning of a new era. Using FH0.5b (first release September 2003).



The next two aren't really WaW videos but they are the trailers for the first Forgotten Hope release, FH0.5. They gave us the first idea which mod the tournament would switch to.

But all I can ask is... WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED?? Why did they remove so much stuff in the later versions of FH?
