I am going to end up buying both, but i still think HLL is going to be a go to when it releases. More fronts to come than just normandy for them, and modding capability.

I'm not working much right now, temporary, so I'm going to wait to see what goes on. Been a long damn time since I been short on work an money. Getting old, my oldest brother just died, makes me think I'm gonna die soon even though he was 12 years older. My brain keeps saying "your next". Like it matters a damn if I die today or next year or 10 years from now, I got the same insurance.

So if anyone thinks I been weird lately thats why and before that my little brothers wife died. So yeah I been weird.

HAd a dream, 2 weeks ago, my older brother and my little brothers wife was in it They in LA but its not like the LA I seen on TV. I get there and they r there and my brother tells me to get on this cart with him and my little brothers wife. I say "Ted, they aint room for me on that cart" and Ted says "just got on, it has room". So I sit down and it has room for my big asz. We go riding through these tree covered yards on this cart to a party. Up and down hills, none more than 20 feet high, we're 2k feet above LA same big asz houses, 4 inch grass the whole way, We get to this house and we get off the cart and go in. Ted and my other brothers wife an me go in, they go in and start talking to other people but I'm kinda stopped by these children. Actually its just one child that stops me, he's 12 to 14. He don't believe he's dead, he just keeps saying over and over "I'm dead?" he's English, accent and all and he's in black and white and kinda see thru, everyone else is solid and in color. Until he believes he's dead he's stuck, he cain't have the good time Ted and Joyce are having, he's been dead 90 years at least questioning his own death. Then I woke up, didn't get to finish that one.

I haven't been sleeping well, this dream kinda helps and then the next day I have this dream where this cat we had, comes back. I know the coyotes got him in RL. Little shet was only like a year old and I know he's gone and I know what got him. Then there he is, in this dream, only he's 6 months old again, he was only a year old when he died, he walks back in the yard and looks at me. I can see him but my wife and Grandchildren can't. I tell them though, Fred is still here and he still loves yall.

The amount of time INF spend on there belly crawling towards the enemy is amazing and tanks cocking off pure joy

If only we had this back when WaW were going strong

There a lot of good clips to watch and more come in every day.

I watch a lot of them, too. It appears that a lot of what we know from our experiences could apply for good effect. Especially in the use of vehicles and of those, armor.

There's a lot to learn in this system.

To me, it looks like use of the medic and supplies are critical.

With Squad the spin-off BF2 Project Reality mod as the base for Post Scriptum (from what I understand) I believe it might be rather playable from get go.
(old news for most, but maybe new for some)

I've pre-purchased Post Scriptum, it really does look like the game we wanted FH2 to be followed up by. I'll have to jump on the teamspeak again when it's out and hopefully we get a little community going (even with my gross trans-pacific ping)

I have now spent some hours in the game now and some great stuff here IMO.

It is more different from Squad than I would have thought.
The Maps are GREAT! with massive vegetation, something I did not think was possible with PUBG and Squad in mind, simply loving it!
Did not crash a single time, was a bit confusing at start how to roll in, but got hang of that pretty quick.
Did play with a friend, and we will be more tonight and that went also well.

All in all IMO this could be let out to be played on full time while they continue to develop.

Also,
Massive new influx of players, and it have actually worked fine!, not all that common.
At least minimum 3 full pages of full servers when I joined today.
Checked Steam and not many "cry" posts there that I see as a confirmation of my own experiences.

Last,
Think it will up until sometime Monday from what I did catch somewhere, no guarantee on that info.

Just to give everyone an update, the crash bug has been fixed and also the server map change has also been fixed and will be live next play test!!! Any bugs or issues please send me a PM and I will get them to the correct people :)

On the server I was on the vehicles were pretty glitchy, bouncing around, being tossed by the terrain, hesitating and hard to drive. They were often abandoned. I single manned a puma around for a bit and it was stuttering a lot and hard to control. Maybe it was the map, idk. Infantry play was good.

I do agree a living tourney is a great thing, I want to see it happen no matter which game of the 2 it is. Or maybe it is both. Then I'll have to buy both but whatever, as long as its good.

Oh, yes. They have issues to fix. I expect these playtests are very helpful to them. But they know some of this already. For instance, from the YouTube link in cb99's post Post Scriptum Dev Stream - 25 May 2018 (http://bfewaw.com/showthread.php?t=292954&p=3252328&viewfull=1#post3252328), at time 36:30 is a shot of the turret glitch.

A few glitches at this point are meaningless. Hell remember the crap we used to put up with, I do. One of them will make it or both will. You can't be like Bailing_Out and say screw it all. Yes I've said screw it all to some mods and games. One of these or both will make it. Yeah I'm a ARMA 3 guy but I know you guys are never going to go for that cause I'm a realist. THE ONE ****ING TIME YOU ****ERS WILL GO ALONG WITH THE REALIST LOL.

Anyway, one of them is going to make it, at least from the videos I've watched. Maybe both will, which wouldn't be bad actually, in a way.

Need a channel for this discussion on TS. make it Post scriptum versus Hell let loose channel. I'm not to be trusted to make a channel. LOL. Drunk as I am now I might make any channel.

Thing is we need some to make channels for it for those who play it or test it.

Anyway I've seen plenty of "vets" here lately and we a place for that. UNDERSTAND MELVIN OR OR WHEVER DOES THAT.

Here are my experiences from yesterday

Our server was not up to start with so found another with just a few players on it, had to create an infantry squad so I ends up as squad leader, that server was full in a couple of minutes. First thing is the immersion for me it was great the sounds and look are good, being a squad leader for the first time was a little overwhelming as I have played nothing like this for a long time, but anyone who has played squad or similar will find it easier. I never managed to kill anyone in that first game, but that never actually stopped my enjoyment, and my infantry squad did pretty will. For me it felt a lot like FH1 where everything needed to be co-ordinated for attacks, both sides have mobile spawn points, and the attacking side can also put down FOBs which you can also spawn on.

In the second game I was a medic, which is a pretty hectic role there are a lot of injured people to fix, I also managed to get my first rifle kill and a couple more.
The best moment for me yesterday was with Risk in a greyhound scout car, he was driving me gunning. A call went up, panther tank in a zone we were trying to cap, Risk did a great job hunting this panther and we ended up behind it, which gave me a easy shot or 3 to shot it up the arse to get the kill.

Overall I think this is a good game and has potential to revive WaW.

Just a quick word on HLL, I have not played this game but I have watched a few videos it also looks like a great WW2 game in the making.

Played some more SL today, and it felt a fair bit towards the good old days, had at least one round that was great.
I have driven tanks just a bit, but some lorry's and such and sure you do go crazy on getting stuck on a fence, and not being able to drive trough bob-wire, maybe lucky but it have been almost no glitch'ing for me, and the reset option of the vehicle do help, makes it jump a tiny bit.
Infantry play for me has so far been pretty flawless.

Is not the compass suppose to be at Y?

Come to think about it,
The thing that "really bothers" me at the moment is the "directional sound" especially from small-arms fire, I hope they will improve upon it, because at least me have sometimes a hard-time to figure out positions from gunfire in PS compared to some other games using the same engine. So mostly "sunshine" for PS with this as somewhat small "cloud" :)
The engine as such certainly (I believe) have the opportunities for it, this with PUBG's gun sounds/directional experience in mind which nowadays is very good IMO.

Did edit input.ini file for some key positions that could not be done from the UI that I "need" when I play, and had destroyed Y mapping of compass, so solved now.

As for bullet penetration they are aiming for realism, I personally did not notice anything odd this weekend.

I'll sum up my experiences - such as they were - as I was out on holiday and had a laptop.

(And don't get me wrong in reading any of my statements, it was all a good time.)

I got killed a lot. I got revived a lot by medics.

I couldn't hardly see the enemy soldiers. They saw me plenty, apparently. I was totally worried about TK's. Probably too much.

I didn't usually know where the wounding or killing fire came from. You get hit and go down. No wound or kill message. Just down and either wounded and blacked out or dead and blacked out. Maybe hear an explosion, but sometimes not.

Squads - or sections as they are called in PS - were really easy to join and leave and rejoin but the SL's were usually pretty useless at this stage, at least any group I joined. For the most part they didn't give directions nor use binocs or point out targets or point out the enemy. I had to guess and hope.

I have a lot to learn. PS's website has a basics tutorial that I have to look at.

Sometimes I couldn't join a section, especially logistics and the "join" link was some weird word in the menu. I don't know why that was.

I'd join an armor section sometimes and often just be ignored by others in the section. The SL would just drive off with the tank or armored car and leave the rest of us behind. Once when I did get in a crewed tank, I was put in as gunner in a Cromwell! I hadn't gunned before except briefly in a puma single crewing it and switching seats. But, no one else wanted to do it and of course they were wanting me to be on target to some long distance and unidentified threat. I don't think I zoomed or sped up the turret rotation correctly but I shot and shot and something in the distance cooked off, but then we got hit, and blew up. The crew in my tank died. No chance to get out at that point.

Some trucks were frozen in place. I think they are "claimed" maybe? Like in Squad, perhaps - and can only be driven by a certain squad - but whatever, I sure couldn't drive them. No message given as to why.

Hanomags couldn't be driven by the armor section members and I got a message for that.

I couldn't get in a jeep's driver's position if the jeep had an mg. And I couldn't drive an unarmed jeep at all. No message given as to why.

Mortars seemed kind of cool but no one knew the exact way to work them. They give dials and something has to give targeting information. More knowledge is needed.

Suppression was really a factor. I sometimes got put down to a red haze and almost immobilized, then I'd slowly recover.

Flag capture definitely plays a part. I got my points by assisting getting into the flag zone at the right time.

Infantry integrated well with vegetation and buildings it seemed. Vehicles I don't know yet. Issues with them going over or through obstacles.

Very notable was how many servers were up an running. A lot. And very many were full with a waiting list. That was often true for WAW's server too.

Overall, the game will benefit from structure and organization. While it needs a number of refinements, it should work for us as a tournament platform.

I'd assume the answer is or would be, "no", but is there any way we could get Post Scriptum's latest version - whatever it is - on our server to make it like a practice server? Maybe password lock it?

To be able to learn some of the basics would be very helpful. If the game gets refined later, there'd seem to be no real harm from working with the earlier version. (or would there be? if so, what?)

Hey All,

Haven't been on here in a LONG TIME. Saw your PS server and my heart filled with joy. Been playing squad a lot and I was planning on creating something v similar to the campaign on there. Looks like I won't have to now, since PS is a great spiritual successor.

The game is currently in a alpha/beta state. Its pretty functional but there's still a lot they can add in and theres still SO MUCH optimization they have to do. I played mostly on the WaW server without tags but I saw a ton of WaW tags on there.

Very excited, love the off-map air support, hopefully they can eventually add in actual aircraft to carry out these missions. Looking forward to getting the community back to full operation, let me know how I can help.

Side note to people looking to buy this and get in: PS isn't availiable yet so you can pre-purchase but no one knows when the next playtest will be so beware. Further, to play this game right off the bat you will need a computer with an actual gfx card. Can't skirt by with the same rig you played FH2 on... It ran okay on my gaming rig, but I had to turn down settings and I could really tell it was an unoptimized game.

Yes - but they're still optimizing. I've got a pretty good computer but 970 generation, and last play test it would barely run anything above low graphics setting. In just one short week I'm running at high with an average of ~30 FPS.

You probably already know this but I did not see it in the video so I mention it just in case, commander and driver can free look/turn just the periscope it self in the protected position holding ctrl and move mouse right/left, and zoom Q does also work.

4 points that they have on there before they release it.
No release date released :)

Regarding the points they have on the "todo list" before release.

1) Works.
2) We already seen 3 maps, and some layouts, the "layouts" as variants of game should not take that much effort IMO, question is how much is done of the forth map?
3) Have we not already seen some of those chutes in videos/trailer already? So that should maybe not take that long :)
4) Artillery, is that not more or less Stuka's with no plane or modified mortar fire, already in the game? Should not take that long :)
5) No clue on that one, might be long or short development, but it say's "tune/tweaks" so the mode should already be already in there.

So,
I hope for it to be playable/released pretty soon my self and initially spring of 2018 was mentioned, also I do think there is something to be won market wise not wait to long.
Personally I guess for one maybe two more test weekends for new map, layouts and new function.

I set my VL $1 on 29/6 :)

I only see nr 2 and 3 as a issue.
- nr 3 is parachuting as I understand it were to be in the first test weekend but were pulled due to networking/coding. Can only hope it a small fix :(
- nr 2 this is the biggy for me, some of those maps are not done, yes the current main part of the map where the layers are centered, where the fighting is centered are done but take a drive away from the fighting and its not done. It comes down to how well they want it done or if they will be "pushing" it out and be "fixing" the last 30% of the map on the "move". I hope they will :)

What make me a sad panda is the lack of game modes to start with but the sandbox is probably what WaW need and off course the SDK, but that we will get later.

- UI adjustments
- Locking squads (you now need 3 members to lock a squad)
- MSP no-deploy zones
- Jumping from airplanes at the first 5 minutes of the map Oosterbeek (or it was Heelsum, did not catch it fully)
- Optimised a lot of ingame renders so it's less CPU dependent (yay for frames)

They mentioned it's an issue with the current build, they have found the issue and are working on a fix.
Since they are based in France expecting an update around 12.00h GMT is my best guess

From discord what I learned, was a 100mb patch recently.

Kudoz [SWE]ThoKaWi for the info.

Changelog:
- Server crash potential fix
- Bush collision was made a bit smaller
- Puddle fix

Test is extended till Monday Morning - European time

Played it for 50min, no issues so maybe works as should now, small thing wrong keymap picture at game start a non issue :)
04.11 here so be some PS tomorrow, the 50min did feel good :)

A little more of a review here.

After getting a new GPU and clearing things up on my computer, I was able to get more time in-game, mostly on the NA WAW servers. I looked to practice more than anything else so often went on the less populated server.

It turned out sometimes that I was the first person on the server and it gradually built up to 34-36 players per side. There was a mix of people who knew what they were doing and those who didn't (which included me).

So I can give my impressions as a noob, fwiw.

I couldn't figure out how to drive logistics jeeps with their trailers. A "crewman" is the only one allowed to drive those. I couldn't figure how to get "crewman" status.

Also, a logistics person can crawl into the logistics trailer - enter it - which is ridiculous.

Armored fighting vehicles are pretty awesome once a person gets the operating parameters down. Crews are essential with this system and it appears that crews in sync with each other who know what they are doing will do well. I think there are some issues with them still.

I could see the driver's rifle showing out of the german 222 for example. And the gun barrel might be recentered on its own after getting out and getting back in on some tanks.

For some vehicles, "ditches are bitches" and vehicles will get stuck in them easily and quickly if they are not handled right.

A glitch is the "reset" icon for vehicles. If the crew gets out and on hitting "F" , selects "reset", the vehicle will bounce and jink on its own from where it is - the use being to jar it loose from being stuck or high centered. In one game, using this on a Staghound caused the AFV to bounce two flags away one time and rest upside down. Doing the "reset" again, bounced the vehicle completely off the edge of the map, still existing, but unavailable.

I got to where I could feel pretty comfortable driving tanks, wheeled AFVs and trucks at speed. I'm sure all the time with FH2 helped since it felt much the same, tho' the controls and views were different. But after getting used to the differences, it was not bad at all.

I have not found out how the commander is designated and how he accesses commander assets like bombing runs by planes and artillery.

The best part I think is that the game is deep. There are many elements to use and to deal with. Very involving.

Two of the changes they did implement to this test weekend have not been to good IMO compared to the previous test weekend game-play experience.

One thing is the radical lowering of the speed infantry can move in the bushes/hedges, sure I do understand the thought but it was just to much.

A thin portion in the middle of the hedges and a lowering of movement speed to 70-80% would been better, now you get forced out in the open for the often long transport distances you have to cover giving the defenders to much of an advantage and making attacking some real tedious/boring work really lowering the tempo. It also took away quick tactic changes with squad spread out to much hold up in the very same bushes.

The second big change that also hampers attackers vastly is the increased and in some cases asymmetric read-zones around objectives where forward bases can not be built and mobile spawns can not be parked.

The asymmetric red zones also made quick changes in attack strategy and direction of attack harder and also a lot easier to guess where the mobile spawns where, that is the closet distance from objective.

IMO the previous weekend test did play so much better.

Now this is a work in progress and tuning of things will be ongoing, but personally I hope for a change/revert on this and even take it as far as I think new players might be "scared away" of the sometimes somewhat stale game-play that IMO was a direct result of those changes.

As to gameplay:

I experienced that the bushes and brush slowed my walking way down early in the test, but later it was easier to go through the brush and bushes and I was just running through a line of bushes and greenery just fine. Also it did seem that fatigue was not a concern. I could just keep sprinting.

As to tanking, the vehicles flying off when doing the "reset" was the biggest concern I had.

I have noted that the light short wooden fences and the barbed wire fences are not obstacles for the tanks anymore. Just go right through them. Big fences and walls still stop tanks. Tank weapons seem pretty good so far.

Save for the server crashes, the comments I heard from others about the game were very positive.

This works right now, when the test weekend is over. About like setting up a local in FH2. I least I can practice some.

Just to add: the player models on my "local" maps are messed up. They split in half at times. It screws up some things on the visuals. I think other later improvements might be missing too.

I like the MSP restriction to certain zones but I feel it could be tweaked a bit. Also, if it was a server side option (and hopefully with parameters so we can tweak it yourself) I would welcome that with open arms. That way every server could adjust it or turn it on/off.

The hedges and mud that slow downs soldiers could be bit less severe, or it could increase incrementally, like in a span of 3-5 seconds
making it easy to cross a hedge but making the soldier start to bog down when trying to traverse a hedgerow laterally.
You can also jump across hedges and it won't slow you down

So...right now I am trying to work with this method to better look at and practice with the game.

However.

What I can bring up has wonky performing versions of the vehicles and soldiers. For example:

The soldiers will seem to be sort of split in half from time to time or do other weird things. Mostly when trying to drive most vehicles, half the soldier is standing in the driver's seat blocking the view. This happens with some tanks, too.

Many tanks have incomplete viewing ports.

Construction doesn't seem to work right. I can lay out something to build, but usually it won't build. Sometimes a sandbag will, but nothing else so far. (Maybe two squad members are always needed or something? IDK.)

I can't be confident of the nature of the fences from map to map, whether they will be a vehicle obstacle or not.

I don't know whether I should be doing something more or different at this point.

Bottom line, the question is, can we somehow get a reliable set of accurate, at least mostly up to date, maps to go on and practice and learn with? Say like a practice server being available? Or a good local?

ARe you using your pickaxe/entrenching tool to "build" the item after you place it from the radial menu? Keep pressing left mouse button with your tool in hand until it stops swinging.

I did get the Axis mortar, mg42 and mg34 to build with about 200-300 shovel strokes each. Took a long time for some reason.

I didn't do a count, but the British equipment built much faster.

We want to thank everyone for your support and helping us with our previous week-end tests of Post Scriptum. It has been truly amazing for us to see the positive reception during our past public playtests from live streams to the comments being shared. However, we realize that there are still bugs and issues keeping you from enjoying the game to the fullest. We really value you as our community and want to ensure our game is the best we can have it for release.

After this past weekend test, we recognize that there are still issues with bugs and optimization that we would like to be resolved before we release the game. Based on our internal QA process, we were under the impression our optimization had undergone significant advancements. But after collecting a higher volume of performance reports from our public testing weekend, we realize there is more work to be done in order to get the game to a fully optimized state.

With that being said, as hard as a decision it is, we have decided to postpone our release date until the second week of August in order for us to resolve issues around optimization and bugs. Being a small independent team has made this decision difficult as many of us have worked 3 years on Post Scriptum. We really want to make the best impression we can when it comes to release and not put out something we know ourselves has issues.
Instead of releasing an unoptimized game on July 18th, we would like to open up a 24/7 open beta period until our new release date. This will allow you to still enjoy and play the game, while helping us collect vital information to resolve all bugs and optimization issues in time for release. Post Scriptum is currently feature complete, and this beta period will allow our team to allocate all resources to bug fixing and optimization.

Would it be possible for us to work up a start to a tournament with what Periscope is doing, being as it's projected to be up 24/7?

Say, have bfe servers password protected and use them for practice and games with whatever content is available at the time.

Both sides would probably be on a roughly equal basis and updates would stream in and both sides would have the updates, again likely on a roughly equal basis.

We could have an extended period for orientation and scrims. That would give time for more recruitment, too.

Numbers wise, we would need 160 participants at minimum if we want 40 vs 40 = 80*2=160 players play for 6 hours each (and even that would be way too much for me to spend time on)

According to PS its feature complete for release for the 18/7, and they will be using the time until the new release date to bug fix and optimize.
I am sure we will be getting 3 servers or more as Wire kept threatening to bring up more servers during the test weekends just because we could ;), so why should we not get a server for each side for practice/testing + a pub server.

Thought I would write up a little post detailing my thoughts after a round or two of the beta.

Ping to the servers in the US was roughly what I would expect, pleasantly surprised how little it seemed to effect the gameplay.

Just like with Squad, I found picking out details, and general visability at distances to be a slight issue. The solution seems to be the same as with Squad, ramp up your resolution as far as it will go. This obviously requires a bit more juice from your PC, and Post Scriptum didn't seem to like the idea, beacuse it threw up all kinds of strange UI bugs that I have never experienced with Squad. However once I got it working, it improved the experience vastly.

Gameplay wise it went much as I expected, neither of the teams I joined seemed to have particularly joint together teamwork flowing, but hopefully that will be recified once (fingers crossed) more former members start to arrive.

After all that, I'm even more excited about the return of the tournament than I was before.

I was backing the Tiger up to make a turn after bumping into a car and went backwards and over and impaled on a wood fence. Reset button wasn't working.

Driving armor is not fun atm.

Alright now.

Matters with PS are close to a refresh (imo).

In a few weeks the faction for the USA will be released to everyone who purchased a game. Supporter Edition purchasers should get access in a few days.

I have the Supporter Edition but haven't seen a release of the USA faction just yet.

Along with that release, PS will put in new maps and a new game mode, AAS (assault and secure) which is basically a double attack, both sides setting out at the same time.

A new rally point device is being put in at the same time, too. Similar to what is in Squad but basically being a "timed" rally point put out by an SL subject to being refreshed after expiration by use of the SL and the radio is what I took out of it.

Plus they state they soon will release mod tools to make maps, modify existing maps and even make vehicles. They also promise help with modding with tutorial vids and the like.

I learned of this from the tea time with the devs stream they had on 10-25-18, found here:
