Does anyone have any idea as to why when i create a game on my pc nobody can join it? I have unblocked it on my firewall and other antivirus programs but it still won't allow others to connect to it. Any help would be appreciated.

Are you starting it as local or as internet? (I think they are the choices, am sure you know what I mean?)

What's the IP you're giving others? You might be giving them your LAN IP address, ie it looks like 10.0.0.4 or 128.168.0.3.

I use this handy webpage to get my IP: http://ankka.com:1000/?ip

I am clicking start internet of course and i am giving them the ip address in the game when i hit tab. I am using a wanadoo livebox (wireless) connected by ethernet and the box uses a diffrent ip addy to my pc. i have tried turning off the firewall on the box and on my pc but still no luck.

Need a tech whizz kid for this one i think.

1) The IP you get from TAB is most prob wrong. It is not your internet address, it is your LAN address.
2) Get the real IP from either link.
3) Turning the firewall off itself won't probably help, I don't know. But I think what you need to do is forward ports. I have created a custom rule in Port Forwarding called "All", which forwards every port from 10 to 50 000 straight into my PC, which then allows me to host stuff.

Try :google: with *router model* port forwarding

Here is site with all the advice you will need to forward the necessary ports
http://portforward.com/routers.htm

Edit - you will also need to be on a Internal static IP to forward ports properly
here is a link that will give you the information needed to set up an internal static IP

Thank you all for you help. Paasky i love you. What you suggested worked. I'm all good now. Case closed. :toast:

Hopefully you didnt forward every port like Paasky did. That will result in a high security risk because you will redirect every internet request to your PC. Only open the necessary ports. Every unwanted request on the closed ports will then automatically be rejected by your router.

Oh noooooooo. I did open all ports. trying to open an individual port is rocket science to me. This is what i am faced with when i try to open an individaul port.

Which service do i choose out of that lot? And is it an external port or an internal port i need to open?

Choose "manual service". As for external and internal port you have to type in the same number. External is the port incoming from the internet, internal is the port the traffic is directed to.

Forward these ports and you should be able to host games:

Edit: I´m not sure what to put in for the server IP address. I think that should be your internal IP (192.168.1.33).

it should be his internal IP address.

edit - I caught hiltz on TS and we have managed to get it working
