you might find some tips in here: http://bfewaw.com/showthread.php?t=11530 ;)

as for getting started, you should first decide what program to use (gimp, paint, photoshop, etc..), and google some tutorials on the basics of it.

i'm no good at explaining exactly how to make sigs (especially because there isnt one certain stye a sig must use, rather its a freedom to create some odd form of art), but i'd adivse you to experiment as much as possible to learn some stuff on your own.

Some tips are at www.pixel2life.com, under Photoshop > Forum Sigs.

www.imageshack.us, www.photobucket.com, or www.fototime.com. You'll need to register for the last two, but all three are free.

Try saving as .jpg or .png.

Paintshop Pro eh? I use that. To save as another format, press F12. If you have a see-through image, you need to either make the background use the same colour as the forums, or save as a .png.

Try to modify the text to make it more readable.

Try using Arial Narrow with full anti-aliasing for the text. Also, get rid of the boxes.

I can create you a similar signature if you want.

for old type writter style i'd recommend using either the font "1942 report" or "adler". both can be found for free online....i think you should be able to find them here: www.1001freefonts.com (http://www.1001freefonts.com) ;)

1942 Report (img.dafont.com/download/?os=win&file=1942_report) & Adler (http://img.dafont.com/download/?os=win&file=adler). There you go.

For future reference: Right-click on image & select Copy image location (in firefox atleast, can't remember what IE had. It was slightly more difficult though)

I'm using IE, and all I would do (for my simple minded sig) would be to upload it (I use Imageshack, and it's free while I have no membership), click on the thumnail of it (to make it full size), and then copy and paste it in the change signature box in User CP. I also normally use the "remove hyperlink" option, too.

No messing around with the confusing codes.
