I have a project in school going on where I have to make a DVD, but I have no idea how to burn it.

Someone at school told me that I had to have some kind of special software to burn DVDs. I have recordable DVDs, plenty. So a question: Does this special software work on regular CD drives or do I have to get special hardware?

If it does work on CD Drives could someone tell me a free one and where to download it?

you need a DVD drive to burn DVDs. you cant use a CD drive. and you do need software to burn it. a really good one is nero (http://www.nero.com/eng/index.html). although it aint free, you can use the free trial for 30 days i think.

DVDs have been around for a long time now, should be common knowledge ;)

as jerry said, nero is excellent, but it costs about $30.

you might be able to find some free stuff on CNet's site @ www.download.com (http://www.download.com)

You get a burning software everytime you buy a CD or DVD burner drive. I got Nero Express, which I then "upgraded" but Express works just as fine.
