View Full Version : FH Vista fix?

03-02-2007, 07:28 AM
Was just curious as to if anyone is trying to make or even discuss a fix for the FH/Vista incompatibility?
Also, I was tinkering with vanilla BF42 I noticed after editing somthing, can't figure out what it was, because I changed some things, played it worked fine, quit came back leter and to play some more and has the same results as FH.... It must be something in the original BF1942 coding, not FH.... I also noticed that the error, CTD on map load, was caused by Digital Illusions, which is BF1942 not FH, it recomends that I patch my game... Which I already did...
Then again it could be file degredation... I found out that when I instaled Gimp 2.2 when I first upgraded to Vista, it recently, well... lost one or two of its .DLL files... A quick 10kb download fixed it... Hopefully thats all it will take for FH to work again...

Found this on the FH support forum, may work. hope so, as I have vista home basic myself. now to get to see my crosshair in bf1942 is a whole nother story.

"Well I came up with a solution to the crashing. You must set application compatability to Windows 98/ME and run in Administrator Mode. It fixes the crashing but for me it caused music to stutter and some corrupted shadows. Other then that it runs fine and the sound is ok. I just turned off in game music as well as shadows then everything was fine."

I tried it, and it worked. but the shadows are kinda funky. I had no music stutter. Other than that it was sweet gaming. now if nvidia would update there fx drivers so i can see my crosshair.

I pity the fools with Windows Vista...

Mr. T, never, ever spam the support forums. As a new guy to the tournament, that'll be your first and only warning.

The game appears to be slower in loading up when you "fix it".

Yeah, On my rig the loading bar flew to the end, but it felt like it hung for a minute or two. Guess I cant complain to much as it is not crashing for me :P And i finally got nvidia drivers that give me back my crosshair, woohoo, happy days. Ohh, and i'd disable shadows, i mean, to me i had a light grey blob under the jeep i was driving and it annoyed me :/ Was your sound and music alright?

Well, the updated nvidia drivers for my card didnt return my crosshair, but i upgraded to a sweet fast ati card and everythings good again crosshair wise. But check out guru3d.com . They usually make the updated drivers so they work on all nvidia cards.

100.41 are the latest beta nvidia drivers, they still dont support my SLI'd 7900's so im waiting for the next release which should be any day now. According to a nvidia dev in the nvnews forum they will be released this week :)

NVIDIA Vista drivers 101.70 fixed the crosshairs problem.

But the shadows are weird, mostly white instead of dark.

Have to run BF1942/FH in compatibility mode with Windows98/Me and admin rights.

How do you do that? I'm having issues just getting FH maps to load (yea I can load BF42 and any other mod pages, it's just FH and I ain't the only one who can't according to some people on FH forums)
