just read this post on the FH forum - at last i get to specialise properly instead of noobs giving the MG42/34 a bad name! :)


Useing a MG is very... dod-ish in .6 and I quite enjoy it, but it does take some skill and patience. You have verturally NO weapon to use on the move. The mg cant hit the broad side of a barn, and you have your butterknife for backup. Best thing to do (works best in urban maps) is find a nice little nook or bush somewhere and set up camp. You are ONLY effective when "deployed" (basicly not moveing for more then 4 seconds). While german MGs are very accurate, they have beastly recoil (especially the 42, wich can only be fired in very tiny bursts). allied lmgs have smaller clips, but are as accurate, and alot easier to control.

I'm sure indeed a well used and well deployed MG34/42 will still create as much agro as before. But personally, I'd be less annoyed knowing that the guy who just cut my torso in half with MG fire did so after spending time to find a proper support position, deploying and using the weapon as it was meant.

As opposed to 19 guys dolphin diving* while sprinting :D

I've always wanted deployabvle MG's, but like you cna pick them up ala DoD styles...

Hopefully they can do that in .6

hehehe obviously no in here has seen me play DoD, ive learned the pull on the mg42 so i can keep it centered on a target, given there withhin 20 feet

Wait this means both sides have to stand still for 4 seconds in deploying their MGs right?

I love the DOD MG system.

In DOD you need to pull on the STG44 and quite a few can even pull the BAR steady, i don't know anybody who can pull any of the MGs (you're like looking straight up after 5 shots) and even if you could, it's horibly inaccurate.

That is of course unless you press 2ndary fire while being prone or at a sandbag, then the bipod is put on the ground or the sandbags and there is 0 recoil. MGs in game are the MG34 (accurate, relative slow rate of fire), MG42 (bit less accurate, overheats but got to love the sound of the bullets spraying out, also a lot bigger clip capacity) and .30 call for the Allies, between MG34 and MG42 somewhere in clip capacity and accuracy, and no overheating so it's a fine gun as well. A well deployed Machine gun is normally not to be taken out from the direction it is looking at, only way to kill it is flanking.

But all of them are useless when you're not prone and deployed, even if there's an enemy running 1 meter in front of you you wouldn't be able to shoot him down. When you would sneak up on someone, the wise thing to do is go prone, deploy and then shoot him. That's the way it works. Deploying doesn't take too long, but you shouldn't run in the middle of a battlefield, to then go prone, deploy and hope you're still alive, at least not in DOD...

ok they better have made the support weapons more accurate (when deplyed) then, the current ones are'nt as good as they should be

also willy, i can hold the DoD MG's steady while walking, not for long though cos i run outa space to move my mouse
