    But just to be clear, it starts on Friday, May 24th and goes at least through Sunday, May 26th.

    That weekend is the USA Memorial Day weekend with Monday being the holiday. It doesn't look like they are running the beta through Monday, but idk for sure.

    I'm going to try to be in one of the Eastern USA servers starting on Friday morning my time. Probably in an armor unit. I'll try to be on TS too.

    I will be in Memphis on that weekend. It doesn't matter, by the time they patch it up a little after release I should have a new computer that will play it. I'm guessing this is the last Beta test week, right?

    Unless they delay the release date due to too many problems, I think that will be the last beta test weekend. They said they would do 3 and May 24th will be the 3rd one. I hope the release two weeks later isn't like the one for Post Scriptum. It seems their release day was their highest number of players; dropping to one quarter that in 2 months. (Measurement is average of number of players on at any one time.) I had the impression, people were disappointed in severity of bugs still in the system. Early Release covers them, I know.

    Someone should talk them into moving it back a week. I tweeted at them for the hell of it. I figure they are going to do it anyway unless they are confronted by large numbers of messages telling them the next week would be better.

    Yeah, too bad they picked a US holiday weekend. A week before that is a Canadian holiday. It would be nice to pick a week later, but that puts them less than a week before their planned release; that may be too tight for them to put in any fixes.

    well memorial day is a veterans remembrance day so it sort of makes sense.
    Always family camping trip for like last 15 years, lots of good war movies on tv for the weekend that i always missed

    I'm planning to put up a timer for the last beta event, but I haven't found a start time, yet. I'll put something up on a day or two, regardless.

    I guess the Memorial Weekend will mess it up for some people, but any recommendation on a common meeting time? Really, I expect people will get there whenever they can, but maybe it's worth laying down a meeting time.

    I sent out an e-mail broadcast to the membership and put up a Notification which shows on each webpage. But I did not put up a timer. Message doesn't indicate a particular meeting time but that we expect most of those interested in checking out the game will be on the East US and Euro servers.

    Been testing this since early Alpha, best WII game I've played, some of the sounds could do with a fix but i believe they're working on that, graphics are stunning, if you get into the right sqaud that use comms it brings the game play to another level ��, shame I'll miss the last Beta test and new Map ��

    Got to play for a couple hours at the tail end of the test Monday night.
    Not much difference that I noticed from the last beta, except for vaulting and a new map.
    Game runs very nice for me, always looks good and lag free rendering no matter what.
    For whatever reason I have more success/more fun playing this over Post Scriptum even though the experiences are similar.
    I played at the same time as Ayrton although he was tanking exclusively and didnt have much interaction with him.
    Being a closed beta, all the players were more or less "invested" in the gameplay. Hopefully when it is released in a week or two the players will still play cohesively.

    The HLL beta tests are over now.

    I played some of the last beta as well. Also on the last day.

    Square and Steamroller played at the beginning of the weekend. I left to travel for the holiday, though.

    I was able to join Square and Hiltz on the last day, too for some infantry work. They are so good at communicating it was terrific and a good game that our side won. It was very enjoyable.

    I understand that Square and Hiltz won 3 times in a row.

    I actually did play some infantry when Val was in but I was Axis when he was Allied. I didn't have a chance to join his infantry squad at the start of the next game because it filled up so fast.

    I went armor after that. One time was with a guy who wanted to be the gunner and commander or driver and gunner and in command. He got info from SL's and shot what he could find. At that time I was "observer" with the commander's cupola and magnified periscope to find targets for him. It worked pretty well. He responded to my info and shot up a lot of infantry as did the driver. This guy coordinated well with other Shermans, too. Our team won and our squad had the highest "combat" rating and 2nd highest something else, kills I think.

    I drove a Sherman in the last long game. Good to do to learn tanks.

    The game rewards organization, communication and teamwork. To me, though, the need for that is not as demanding as it is in Post Scriptum and the combat actions taken can be improvised better in HLL. So more fun.

    And it looks better too.

    And it always runs well for me. No lag. No real problems.

    We should get a group together and figure out times to get the group into games when the early access is released.

    In case anyone happens to be interested, Square, Hiltz and Risk currently engage in Hell Let Loose together and I join in when I can. We use TS as well as the in game voip.

    So check out TS. Join in. Ask questions, whatever.

    The game is still basically in a test and refinement phase but now servers are up all the time.

    After the basics are learned and with teamwork, it can be a lot of fun, if the teams are at least roughly even.

    In one game, Square, Hiltz and Risk ran Sherman tanks as a squad on the Foy map and "had a blast". I was an out of squad engineer and ran around repairing their tank and other Shermans.

    I also killed infantry with my m1 carbine plus managed to sneak up on a Panther tank and place a mine under its tread, which it triggered and died from. Pretty hard to do and it was pretty cool, too.

    It was a two hour battle which see sawed back and forth and which our team won. Very involving with a server with 99 or 100 players most of the time.

    Good stuff.

    The stuff I want to do right there LOL, slap that mine down, put a bomb on them, panzerfaust/bazooka the hell out of them. Sometime later this year I will get a PC that will play it. I hope that the game sells like pancakes being sold by topless waitresses so that it will last.

    This is good info but he didn't cover the fact that being in the strong point area doubles the value of the soldier in the sector for cap. The comments note it.

    The game is under constant development. Not always perfectly, but they keep at it and are on a better path than Post Scriptum chose, imo.

    I talk to the HLL Lead Developer Max weekly and his team listens to the community and work their a** off to quickly deliver new content and fix bugs.
    These are the notes for the most recent patch.

    Currently working on (non-exhaustive list, we just want to give you some idea)




    1. Additional RCON commands
    2. Making vaulting more responsive, fluid and polished
    3. Continuing HUD and UI updates
    4. Making MG deployment more responsive, fluid and polished
    5. Implementing mocap and making large changes to our TPP (third person perspective) animation systems. These will result in a much more natural look and feel.
    6. Our FPP (first person perspective) experience - with a focus on gunplay - is being overhauled in a separate branch. This is to both match our new TPP look, but also to greatly increase the fluidity of the FPP experience.
    7. Unit management functions (kick/invite and lock).
    8. Vehicle locking system
    9. Anti-grieving mechanics
    10. Progression system: We will be unveiling how this will work before release.

    This ties to a cosmetic system
    11. Optimizations
    12. Diving (performed by proning while sprinting). This is wrapped up with our FPP overhaul currently.
    13. Bullet penetration
    14. Map balancing (addition of cover and other features in locations that are either boring or creating a tedious gameplay experience).
    15. Vehicles - (Tiger I)
    16. New game-mode

    17. Three new maps are currently at different stages of development. (Marvie for example)
    18. Updating all audio and SFX. Specifically, vehicle engines, tracks and other aspects are being overhauled at the moment. We’ve also been testing reflections and different reverb volumes alongside all new weapon fire and reload sounds.


    We’re currently finalizing the contents of Update 2 and will shortly release a revised roadmap.

    Anti-griefing mechanics is how to deal with Smaktards, I guess. I couldn't find discussion of the mechanics of it.

    Progression system: "We will be unveiling how this will work before release." Maybe we find out soon. I figure it could be either on a campaign basis or map basis or both or wtf.

    Well I will know later I guess. I've been pricing a replacement for this thing, 13 to 15 hundred if I get 9th gen I5 and a good but not great (by todays standards) video card. I never thought the battery on the motherboard was that important till I read about it. No wonder this thing doesn't like to be turned off and doesn't like to start back up afterwards.

    I cannot imagine how you make a mechanic to deal with smartaszes. Must be some smart SOB's to do that. I get the feeling, its Saturday and I been drinking so I get lots of feelings, that the progression thing will be like that BF2 thing where the longer you played the more advanced weapons you got access to. But who knows.

    Melvin, what have I done to my browser, in your opinion, that causes me to have to login everytime I come here even though I've set this thing to allow everything the website does. Reddit doesn't do that to me, yes I registered on reddit the other day to answer some guys ARMA question but back a few days ago I was logged in here all the time now I'm not, I have to log in everytime.

    "Griefing" is a bit of an unknown to me, too. But I understand it to be someone taking revenge on another, usually after an intentional TK.

    Progression is usually when someone can get an enhanced weapon or extra weapon based on time in the game and achievement, but I'm not sure what the HLL devs mean. They do mention being able to eventually choose some aspects of faces and uniforms.

    On a side note, I also have access to bfe/waw issues. I have needed to login two times to show as logged in and when I return, I am not "remembered". Google also shows the link as "Not secure".

    For what it's worth, for anyone who is interested, CMP Gaming, https://cmp-gaming.com , has had FH2 campaigns ongoing and appear to entertain the idea of looking at HLL for tournament style play, but also appear to be careful in their evaluation.

    I always logged out when done, so I didn't notice. But I expect it is due to an increase in FUBAR since the cert expired last month. It has to do with https:// and http:// things as well as a long standing mix in the database of www.bfewaw.com and bfewaw.com. Maybe change to http://www.bfewaw.com if you haven't tried that already.

    As for the cert, there is a way to get a free cert but it must be renewed each 90 days. I am willing to maintain that once I am shown how to install them. That is, it is apparently not per the usual way, but I don't know how it was made to work in the beginning. I've been looking at the DNS and is has issues, too, but maybe effects were hidden until the cert expired.

    Yes, that expired cert is why "Not secured". Or maybe Google warns the obvious when using http:// not https://

    Since the donation balance went to $0, I'm not sure how long @[WaW]CA|Wir3tap will keep funding the site. There are basic things like the cert (which we can live without, but I'd rather have the free one if it can be made to work), and the payment for the domain name, (which we cannot live without). Those are relatively low costs paid once per year, but the monthly server rent adds up to real money fast.
