    Post System Specs and Benchmarks

For those of us who have built computers recently, I think it would be a good idea to centralize our stats and benchmarks so that it can benefit people who may be considering building a new computer. I'll start the ball rolling with mine. I will only mention components that can affect the benchmarking (not the case, power supply, etc).

    Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-P35-DS4 Rev 2.0
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 @2.66Ghz (factory settings)
RAM: Crucial Ballistix Tracer 2GB (2x1GB) DDR2 1066 @800mhz 5-5-5-18 timings (default settings with this mobo)
Video Card: EVGA GeForce 8800GT Superclocked Edition
    Sound Card:
    Creative Labs X-Fi XtremeGamer
Hard Drive 1: Western Digital Raptor 150 GB SATA 10000 RPM (windows and BF2)
Hard Drive 2: Western Digital Caviar 500 GB SATA 7200 RPM
OS: Windows XP Professional SP2 32 bit

    Aquamark

    CPU 30,162
    GPU 15,743
    Total 154,066

    3D Mark03
Eek..my 3D Mark results can't be opened because I don't have Excel installed. Here is the file so someone can tell me what it was lol.
    http://captbenson.googlepages.com/pretest.rar

Those are results I got from before installing BF2/FH2 and before overclocking any. I currently have a slight overclock at, supposedly, 3108 Mhz (444 x7) with the ram at 444 x2.4 or just about 1066 at 4-4-4-12 timings. I'll run those tests again right now and update this post with the results. If I kick the multiplier up to 8, it'll be at 3552 which is a bit higher than I want to run at for now.

    Aquamark

    CPU 33,690
    GPU 17,372
    Total 170,979

    3D Mark03
    38,771

    My bad...here are the 3D Mark06 results.

    3D Mark06
    11908

That puts me at 91.88% (top 8.12%). I took a huge hit from that cpu test which is surprising...you'd think a dual core processor running at 3.1 ghz (showing 3.5 in 3d mark for some reason) would kick a little more tail than .88 fps on the first cpu test and 1.411 on the second.

    Assassins do it from behind.

I might OC my Vid card now that i have a good aftermarket cooler on it (Arctic Cooling S1 with Turbo Module). and i might OC my CPU later but i'd want to get an aftermarket cooler before i do that.

RX-7, that's interesting... I'll be interested to know what I would get with a better graphics card or faster HDD.

Off topic: man, prices are ridiculous... I paid $218 for my RAM in early August of 2006 and now the same RAM is $53...

    CPU2 - Red Valley 1.176 FPS

    CPU Score - 2325 Marks

While the Avarage fps for the graphics tests are 5-8fps, but I only get:

    SM 3.0 Score - 736 Marks

I like 3dmark01 better, it's a smaller download and gives more points.

Yeah, and since 3Dmark is a synthetic benchmark and isn't actually a game, it can be more particular to specific drivers.

Also, regulus, your graphics card is the main source of your bottleneck. If you get a better graphics card, you will experience drastically better performance.
    http://www.tomshardware.com/2008/01/...ics/page6.html
You don't have a bad card, but the rest of your system is superior. You are in the 5th tier according to TH but it would probably take getting a 1st or 2nd tier card to really get the most out of your system.

My 3dmark just hangs at the loading screen, and uses about 50% cpu forever, until I ctrl+alt+del it. Reinstall doesn't help. Any suggestions?

I'd rather you make another thread, let's try to keep this one clean please ~ADRIFTER

I have the same card on a P4 3.0 AGP MOBO and got a 3950 score. Your telling me a quad core only gets him a little over a 1000 points over my P4? My CPU score was a 889. I saw that link a few weeks ago and the x1950PRO is like five slots down from the top listed card. Thats not that far down. I think something else is a bit rusty to throw that score and not just the graphics card.

Arctic 7 freezer pro on the CPU. Temps of 41 C idle, and 50 or so under load.

Stock cooling on the 9800gx2, but my fan is set to 100% in rivatuner. Idle for that is about 60C.

You beat the Tom's hardware build at stock settings...

Water-cooling might be a nice hobby to go along with your overclocking, and you would definitely be able to squeeze more out of the graphics card.
