for some odd reason photoshop (and all other font using programs) only says i have 374 different fonts to use when in fact i have about 600 in my fonts folder.

i cant seem to find the logic in this when at least one all of the different types of fonts (truetype, opentype, etc..) are working.

i dont have a clue what would be causing some custom fonts to work while others seem to be non-existant.

is it possible that the fonts were not installed correctly....
would either of these cause a problem: being extracted straight to the font folder, or only being copied into the font folder?

any ideas?

If they are default windows fonts, then you've just got a problem with the files. Also, if it's standard fonts, then you should be able to just copy somebody else's fonts folder. If they are custom fonts... hmmm... I guess just make sure that you read the readme on the fonts to make sure that you haven't done something wrong.

i'm only having trouble with custom ones i've downloaded....

they came in seperate .rar files, i extracted them to a folder, then selected all of the font files and copied them into the windows/fonts folder.....

When you put them in the font folder, did a little box come up and say Installing Fonts with a progress bar? it should have.

hmm then try it by opening your windows/fonts folder, click on File then Install New Font... point it to the folder where you have the files...

See what happens then.

What type of fonts are they? TTF?

They should automatically install when you paste them into the PROPER windows font folder.

If you need some fonts I have about 60 MB of free one's I downloaded all at once for ten bucks. They are only free if you download them one by one, screw dat!

I recommend this for font handling:

http://www.extensis.com/en/products/font_management/product_information.jsp?locale=en_US&id=1054

Makes it very easy to keep track of your fonts and activate and deactivate when you want to.

^ looks cool, but is it rly $80 :/

...or is the "30 day" trial like the winrar one, it never actually expires?

these are free...but gaining access either costs money or about 2 hours of your time going on a wild goose chase filling out surveys to find a hidden password to the site with the links.
